Since 1985, AFA has had the longest running and most successful fish cage program in California. In late Fall, approximately 50,000 Rainbow Trout are delivered to our cage program by CDFW. Additionally, 10,000 fertile Brown Trout are reared by our partners at Feather River College each year and delivered to our program. Our hearty volunteers feed and care for the fish daily throughout the Winter, with the fish being released in Spring.
To date, AFA has raised and released over 2 million fish into Lake Almanor.
